Parental Love

I had to share this, because it made me almost want to cry.

My dad is not a very touchy-feely sort of man. In fact, the only time he has ever said "I love you" that I can recall is on the phone on 9/11, after telling me to take out a lot of cash from the ATM in case the banks crashed, and just before hanging up. He told me he loved me because he thought we were all going to die.

And so yesterday, as I was asking him if he had a specific seat request for the wedding on Thursday, I reminded him that I was only have hors d'oeuvres, and not a real dinner, so he shouldn't come too hungry. And today I got this email from him:

If you are worried about not having enough food, why don't you order some more and I'll take care of it. -- Dad

I was so touched. He hates weddings, and thinks they're a waste of money. So this was the equivalent of a bear hug from him. It's nice to know that even though it's too late to add anything to the catering bill, he'd help me out. Thanks, Dad.

Sometimes it's those little things, gestures and such that mean the most.

Best Wishes and Congratulations. Hope you'll share some pictures when you are back!
