Tales From The Shoe Department

I had to share this:

There’s a new trend sweeping the nation’s offices. Men, from top executives to mailroom boys, are opting to wear high-heeled, wing-tip and loafers. We’re talking as high as 3-inch heels.

Since many men are not used to wearing these vertigo-inspiring shoes, web sites and self-help groups are popping up all over the country to help them learn how to wear the power heels with grace and style.

Joe, a vice president with a major consumer products company who would not disclose his full name, says, “My feet hurt all the time but I feel that if I want to be taken seriously in today’s job market and climb my way to the top, I need the stature that power heels provide.”

So begins Eve Tahmincioglu's column on the ridiculous double standards of shoes at work. And I have to admit, I was wondering for a minute if the platform craze of the '70s was back. But of course, CareerDiva kids. No man would ever willingly torture his feet that way. Well, perhaps RuPaul.
