Well, I did it. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a cell phone.
It's a boring cell phone, and let me tell you, I think the saleswoman was very disappointed in me. I passed up a phone with an mp3 player, plus super-cool sliding action, and a built in camera for a very, very basic phone. I didn't even pick the version of the boring phone in red.
It's sitting in my purse right now, it's little screen winking up at me, as if to say, "I told you so!" I have figured out how to set my voicemail, and set two of the numbers that I want unlimited calling for, and turn the ringer volume to low.
Happily, no one has called me yet.
Sadly, I was not able to score a 617 area code. If you live in Boston, you know that the area code is 617, and people who do not have a 617 area code are a long distance call. It's a little silly to think that if my husband called me from a block away, it would be a long distance call.
In all, I'm terming this an investment in my career, and I'm probably going to save my statements to write off on my taxes. Besides, I'm paying for this with my economic stimulus package. I really hope this will stimulate the economy.
