Returning to the Business School Debate

In February, I thought I would have made up my mind about business school. I envisioned myself enrolling this fall. And yet, in the swirl of job loss, the idea of business school sank to the bottom of my priorities.

Yesterday, visiting with my father-in-law, he asked me again about business school. I really didn't have a good answer for him. I'm not prepared to take the GMAT right now, and I really have no idea how I would pay for it, considering I'm out of work. And with Nate's grad school foray about to end (his last class is Wednesday), I was looking forward to some time off from anyone being in grad school.

But when I think about where I'm going, becoming more interesting in writing in terms of marketing and PR, I can see myself getting some useful training out of an MBA. I'd be building a bigger network, certainly.

The thought has occurred to me that if I went full time, I would be eligible to apply for a full scholarship at Simmons (my program of choice), which would take care of the financial piece of the puzzle. It would take less time, and I wouldn't have to negotiate a leave of absence.

I think what I need to do is talk over my situation with the Admissions counselor again. I'd like to know what my chances would be at winning a full-scholarship before I get in over my head.
